Like many other children her age, 15-year-old Regina Mayer from Germany dreamed of getting a horse. But when her parents refused to buy her one, she took matters into her own hands and found a suitable alternative… She started riding her cow, Luna.
Regina chose Luna, who lives on Regina’s family’s farm, for her calm and kind nature. After taking Luna for walks in the woods, Regina saw that the cow had become used to following her.
Then with Luna accustomed to her company, Regina began training the cow to wear a saddle. And six months later, Regina tried to ride Luna for the first time.
“At the start, she was really well behaved and walked normally,” says Regina. “But after a couple of meters, she wanted me to get off.”
For two years, Regina trained her cow. And when Luna got used to having her on her back, they began to start jumping together.
Luna turned out to be excellent at jumping over obstacles, although she’ll probably never be able to jump as high as a horse.
Regina says she still wants a real horse. But even if she gets one in the future, Luna will still be her favorite animal.
What a great cow! And it looks like she really likes training with Regina. See for yourself in the adorable video below!
