I’ll admit it. I’m more garden gnome than expert gardener. So what do you do if you’re like me and love to garden but aren’t exactly blessed with a green thumb? Well, you can always listen to the pros. This gardening trick may seem a bit strange at first, but it’s said to do wonders for your plants and seedlings.
What you need:
* A pot
* Soil
* A raw egg
Pick out a spot to grow your plants. It should be suitable for the kind of plants you want to grow.
You might already know that eggshells make a wonderful fertilizer because they contain calcium and other essential minerals. But what you might not know is that a whole egg delivers even better results. Your plants will soak up all of the nutrients inside the eggshell, which will even protect your plants against root rot.
Fill a pot with about an inch and a half (5 cm) of soil. Place a raw egg on top of the soil and cover it with more soil. As the egg rots, the nutrients will seep into the soil.
Many experienced gardeners use this trick, and they often throw in an old banana. So why not try it for yourself?
Then, just let nature take care of the rest…
The best thing about this trick is that you can use old eggs that may have passed their expiration date. So instead of throwing away your old eggs, give this trick a try!
