I have read this brilliant story before, but I totally forgot to share it. But now I think it’s time y’all got the chance to hear it, because I laugh out loud every time I read it. It starts with a policeman pulling over an old lady because she’s driving to slow. Now, I don’t know if this story is true or not and I have read it in some different variants. However, I just find it to funny not to share and I really think you’ll enjoy the old lady’s response to the police.
The policeman was sitting in his car by the highway to catch speeding drivers when he suddenly sees a car puttering along at 22 MPH.
“This driver is just as dangerous as a speeder!” he thought to himself and turned on his lights and pulled the driver over.
When he walked up towards the car he noticed there where five old ladies in it. Two in the front seat, and three in the back. They looked really shocked and white as ghosts. The lady that was driving the car looked really confused and asked the policeman: “Officer, I don’t get it, I was doing exactly the speed limit! What seems to be the problem?”
”Ma’am”, the officer responded, ”You weren’t speeding, but you should know there can be just as dangerous for other drivers when you’re driving so slow”.
”Slower than the speed limit?” the lady asked. ”No, I was doing the speed limit exactly, Twenty-Two miles an hour!”
The officer realized what was going on and explained to the lady that ”22” was the route number, Route 22, and not the speed limit. The woman grinned and thanked the officer for pointing out her mistake.
”Before I let you go, I just have to ask… Are you all okay? The women in the back seat seem awfully shaken and they haven’t said I word since I pulled you over?” asked the officer.
”Oh, they’ll be alright in just a moment. We just got off Route 119.”
