Sylvia Goldsholl might be 108, but she’s every bit the fighter she’s always been.
The centurion, who lives in a nursing home in Allendale, New Jersey, lived through both the 1918 so-dubbed ‘Spanish flu’ and World War II. Well, she can now add coronavirus to her list of enemies overcome.
As per CNN, Sylvia was diagnosed with the virus last month, but Governor Phil Murphy confirmed at a press conference on Thursday that she’s made a full recovery – and she might be the oldest person in the state to have done so.
“A tremendous life, a tremendous spirit, and a tremendous show of strength,” the governor wrote in a tweet to celebrate Goldsholl.
The 108-year-old had lived in the Bronx her entire life before moving to New Jersey 20 years ago, as per News 12.
“The oldest of four children and I was the smartest one from the bunch,” she said. “I am a survivor. I’ve got to come out on the top of every list.”
Indeed, a survivor she most certainly is. Here’s to wishing this amazing woman many more happy years of health.
Staff at Allendale Community for Senior Living shared her story on Facebook, describing her as a “model of positive perseverance.”
Such endurance and bravery is certainly worthy of our praise!
