A West Kentucky woman celebrated her 109th birthday with as much pomp and hoorah as possible – given the coronavirus restrictions – on Wednesday.
As per reports, Ruth Evelyn Harrington, of Kuttawa, was celebrated by a birthday parade during which vehicles drove past her home and honked their horns.
Ruth, who lived through the Spanish Flu outbreak of 1918, as well as two world wars, has seen 17 American presidents in her time.
A birthday parade proved to be just the thing to lift her spirits during these uncertain times. COVID-19 may have foiled any plans of a grand birthday party, but that didn’t mean neighbors couldn’t wish her well on her big day.
In fact, as per reports, the mayors of three neighboring towns took part in her rolling party. A number of her great-great-great grandchildren were also present.
Ruth, meanwhile, sat outside her home with a mask on and a huge poster that read: “HONK FOR MY 109th BIRTHDAY”.
Happy Birthday, Ruth! Here’s to may happy returns!
