It’s not always easy to know what other people are going through just by looking at them.
Children, especially, are good at keeping the secrets behind their painful feelings inside. Even if it’s obvious that something’s wrong, they’re often too ashamed to admit that they could use some help.
But what would happen if everyone extended a hand to the people around them who were having a hard time?
Wouldn’t the world be a much better place?
This video, created by The Norwegian Directorate for Children, Youth and Family Affairs, does a wonderful job of showing how a small act of kindness can make a huge difference.
The video begins in a elementary school classroom, where all the students are eating lunch—except for one boy.
Because even though he also brought a lunch box from home, the boy has a sinking feeling it’s empty.
He cautiously opens it, and sure enough, there’s nothing inside.
The boy looks around embarrassed, raises his hand, and asks to go to the bathroom.
He walks down the hallway alone, has a drink of water, and stares out the window, wishing he were somewhere else.
When the boy returns to the classroom, all his classmates are enjoying enjoying their lunch break.
Then, he goes to put away his empty lunch box and notices something strange. It weighs a bit more than before. Confused, he shakes it and realizes what’s inside…
I don’t want to give away the whole story, so you’ll have to watch the video for yourself. And if it warms your heart, share it with your friends—because this is one message everyone can believe in!
If we only help one person by spreading this video, then it will be worth it!
