A Texas father-of-six described as ‘perfectly healthy’ has passed away just two days after being diagnosed with coronavirus, according to reports.
As per the Daily Mail, the wife of Adolph Mendez wants to warn others that it “can happen to anyone”.
44-year-old Mendez, who was a kindergarten teacher in New Braunfels, tested positive for coronavirus on Tuesday. His condition is said to have rapidly deteriorated over the next two days and he died on Thursday.
Mendez, affectionally known as T.J, leaves behind three daughters and three sons, as well as his wife Angela.
She says her husband was in perfect health before he contracted COVID-19.
“You hear that the people who die are older, or have previous health conditions, but he was neither and the virus took him down hard,” Angela said to the Herald Zeitung.
“It can happen to anyone, it’s not just a story that happens to people across the world. It’s here and it’s real and it can kill anyone, just like it did my husband.”
She continued: “He loved his family so much. He was very involved in our community and our church.”
Coronavirus figures continue to rise in the United States, with latest reports stating there have been over 136,000 confirmed cases, resulting in over 2,300 deaths.
Rest in peace, Adolph Mendez, our thoughts and prayers go out to his family at this difficult time.
Now more than ever it’s important that we take care of each other and love thy neighbor. Together we can get through coronavirus, but it’s vital that we remain sensible and safe.
