In the wake of the tragic death of basketball legend Kobe Bryant and his 13-year-old daughter Gianna in a helicopter crash, murals to honor them both are appearing all over.
One particularly beautiful mural of Kobe kissing his daughter with a halo over them was created in Los Angeles. Now Kobe’s eldest daughter and his widow are honoring the memory of their loved ones by posing in front of it.
Natalia Bryant, older sister of Gianna and eldest daughter of Kobe Bryant can be seen grinning from ear to ear in front of the mural in a picture posted on Instagram by Kobe Bryant’s wife Vanessa.
The beautiful mural is one of many to go up since the tragedy which also claimed the lives of 7 others. The helicopter they were traveling in crashed into a cloud-covered hillside in Calabasas, California, on January 26.
More than 5 million have responded to the basketball widow’s Instagram post which included the words “❤️my babies. Natalia. #winterformal #together #family“
The 17-year-old had recently attended her school’s winter dance but had stopped to pay tribute to her father and sister by posing in front of the mural.
Vanessa also posted a picture of herself, Natalia and two other daughters 3-year-old Bianka and 8-month-old Capri Bryant, with the lyrics from ‘Smile’ by Nat King Cole.
“Smile though your heart is aching
Smile even though it’s breaking
When there are clouds in the sky, you’ll get by
If you smile through your fear and sorrow
Smile and maybe tomorrow
You’ll see the sun come shining through for you.” she wrote.
During a moving memorial at Los Angeles’ Staples Center recently, Vanessa described her husband as her “everything” and their daughter Gianna as “sunshine.”
She added: “God knew they couldn’t be on this earth without each other. He had to bring them home to heaven together.”
Sending love and strength to the Bryant family. Rest in Peace Kobe and Gianna.
