Everyone who’s ever been a student, had a tiny first apartment, or lived in a small room knows what it’s like when you don’t have enough space for your stuff.
You have to find creative solutions for organizing your belongings—if only to spend less time cleaning, right?
Anyway, if you’re looking for some extra storage space in your bedroom, you should definitely check out this Ikea hack.
What you need:
- 2 Kallax shelf units with 4 compartments
- 2 Kallax shelf units with 8 compartments
- 6 hardwood timber planks (135 cm)
- Curtains and a curtain rod (if you have enough space)
Do this:
Build the shelves according to Ikea’s instructions. The shelves will become your bed frame.
Form the shelves into a rectangle. Then, place the wooden planks at 17-centimeter intervals.
Drill holes into the edges of the wooden planks and screw them into the Ikea shelves.
The woman behind the project, Chelsea, says the bed is stable. But if you want to be on the safe side, you can fortitfy the bed with more planks.
If you have room, you can also mount curtains above the bed. The curtains in these pictures are also from Ikea.
They make it a little comfortable to spend hours in bed.
Looks cozy, doesn’t it?
But above all, building a bed out of shelves gives you all that extra space. Clever, right?
And I think Chelsea isn’t the only one who likes her new bed…
