Alabama man finishes mowing lawns for U.S. veterans in all 50 states

When it comes to paying tribute to veterans, we all like to play our part.

Honoring and respecting those who have risked their lives and sacrificed so much in service to this country are principles that have been handed down the generations, and are as important today as ever before.

Rodney Smith Jr. knows this well. He’s the founder of Raising Men Law Care Service, and he decided he wanted to do something to really give back.

The Huntsville, Alabama native made it his aim to mow lawns for veterans in all 50 states. After months of hard work (and a great many lawns mowed) he accomplished his goal.

All told, Rodney assisted veterans up and down the country, helping those who served in wars from World War II to Vietnam and present day.

A humble man, Rodney told Fox 17 News that the reason he was undertaking the endeavour was simply because he was on a mission from God. That mission meant Rodney had to source veterans in every single state – which he did through the help of social media – and then set about getting to them and doing what he needed to do.

An inspiring project

It was through social media that Rodney was able to come into contact with Phil Barnett of Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Barnett is a 30 year veteran of the Navy, and his was the final lawn on Rodney’s journey.

“It’s a nice thing. It’s great to be appreciated,” Barnett said.

“Remember, I’m old enough to remember when people came back from Vietnam, and they were not appreciated. Today, the military members and their families are greatly appreciated for their sacrifices.”

Even before this particular feat, Raising Men Law Care Service had distinguished itself as an inspiring project.

Rodney’s business provides community service in the form of free lawn care for the elderly, disabled, single moms and vets. Even so, this most recent of undertakings truly shows the overwhelming generosity of Rodney’s character.

Thank you, Rodney Smith Jr. for not only taking the time to acknowledge vets, but for helping them in the best way you know how.

What a stand up guy! Share this article If you think Rodney should be praised for his efforts, and that all veterans should be cared for when their service ends.
