For many people, how they do their hair is how they express their personalities. They may want to change the color, length, style, or anything else they can think of!
Of course, making these decision must come with a relatively mature personality: while we are accepting of all styles, most parents would agree that it’s a little soon to allow a child under 10 years of age to choose their hair color or cut.
Regardless, when Kelsey Frederick turned 13-years-old, she asked her mom, Christin, for a special gift: hair highlights.
Hair highlights aren’t the craziest alterations out there, so Christin happily agreed. She got her daughter a whole spa day and pampered her like a princess. Kelsey’s hair went from brown to beautiful blond highlights.
This is what my daughter looked like Sunday when I took her home and the other two pics is what happened today before she was brought to me… all over me having highlights put in her hair for her birthday!

She looked beautiful!
Shortly thereafter, Kelsey visited her dad and his wife for continuing birthday celebrations. But she was met with anger—the emotion she least expected.
Why? Because he was furious that her mom, his ex, let their teen daughter change her hair in such a way.
A few days later, Kelsey came back home to Christin, and the mom was shocked by what she saw. Kelsey’s dad, in his fury, had chopped all of his daughter’s beautiful hair off. She was in tears, and the mom decided to get revenge and post photos of her crying daughter online to shame this man.

Needless to say, many were angry about Kelsey’s dad’s actions. They were unwarranted and even emotionally abusive: he destroyed her self-confidence and she no longer felt beautiful.
People, including strangers, rallied behind Kelsey and her mom and they pulled together to get her a wig for the time being. Even police got involved to investigate a potential situation of parental abuse.
I'd like to thank the ladies at Lady Jane's on Glendale in Toledo, OH for making my baby feel more like herself!…
