These quick and easy tricks are magic. I haven’t tried all of them out yet, but I know I’ll be testing out number 7 this week for sure. I didn’t know simple household products could transform into such super cleaners. I wish I’d known some of these tricks before.
1. Cutting boards
Does your cutting board look like it could use a serious facelift? Yeah, mine too. Well here’s a quick and easy way to do just that. Just halve a lemon and rub it along your board with kosher salt. The combination of salt and lemon will help dislodge all those little food particles stuck in the wedges of your cutting board. Then, simply rinse off with some warm water and dish soap.

2. Cookie sheets
Do your old cookies sheets lack luster and shine? Here’s how to make them look like new again. Just mix 1/4 cup of baking soda and add enough hydrogen peroxide to make a paste. Rub the paste over your sheet in small little circles. Let it sit for 2-3 hours and then rinse. Magic!

3. Cheese grater
I have to say I hate washing graters — especially when I’ve postponed doing it for *cough* a few days. Well here’s an effective quick way to make life easier: just grate a potato. The oxalic acid in potatoes grabs onto and dislodges stubborn residue and gunk that may be stuck in your grater. You can then just use the shredded potatoes for yummy hash browns 🙂

4. Your microwave
I hope your microwave doesn’t look anything like mine. But if it does – here’s a great way to fix it, that won’t have you scrubbing with all your power. Simply fill a bowl with 1 part water and 1 part vinegar and microwave on high for 2 minutes. This actually steam cleans the microwave from the inside. All you need to do next is wipe your microwave down and the grime will come right off.

5. Your Coffee Maker
Fill your coffee machine with equal parts of white vinegar and water. Then brew about half the solution. Turn off the machine for 30 minutes and let sit. When 30 minutes have passed, brew using clear water and a new paper filter. Then repeat this step one more time. All you need to do next is enjoy your mold free coffee.

6. Cast Iron Pans
Heavy cast iron pans are also not my favorite to wash. Here’s a great trick to get them clean without ruining their amazing flavor keeping properties. Simply use kosher salt and olive oil. Take a look at this 30-second video for full instructions.

7. Gunk remover
I absolutely adore coconut oil and was already aware of some of its magical properties – but not this one! Mix 1 part coconut oil and 1 part baking soda to remove sticky residues. This I will try on everything!

8. Blender
Another hassle I never enjoy dealing with: the blender. Mine is particularly heavy, so I really dislike washing it. Well, you can let it clean itself instead, with this handy trick. Just simply add warm water and some dish soap -and turn it back on. Take a look at the full tutorial here.

9. Toaster
There’s nothing like shiny kitchen appliances to bring calm to my soul 🙂 To clean grimy, gunky, sticky appliances like your toaster, simply mix some water and cream of tartar and just relax as the scrubbing gets easier.
