7 unexpected tricks that show why you should always have fabric softener in the house

Just because a product is marketed for one particular purpose doesn’t mean that you can’t use it for anything else. Many household products have untapped potential and can be used for all sorts of unexpected purposes.

Take liquid fabric softener, for example. It not only softens clothes, but also works as an excellent cleanser.

It might sound weird, but in many cases, fabric softener works better than regular cleaners. Just look at these seven things that sparkle when you clean them with fabric softener.

1. Windows

Dirty windows? No problem! Pour a splash of fabric softener in some water and you have the perfect solution to your dirty window woes. Apply a little to a clean cloth and wipe away. Your window grime will disappear in no time, and after you’re done, your windows will also repel dust.

2. Floors

Fabric softener doesn’t just remove static from clothes, it also takes the zap out of surfaces like hardwood floors. Mix some fabric softener with warm water and use it to mop the floor. It’ll keep the dust away and leave your floors shining like never before. And it doesn’t hurt that your floors will also smell divine!

3. Furniture

Just like with floors, fabric softener mixed with water can make your wood furniture gleam and ward off dust. Spray the mixture on your furniture and wipe with a cloth or paper towel to make it look new again.

4. Hair

Wacky? Sure. Effective? Yes, actually. Dry and damaged hair normally becomes frizzy, but spray on a solution of fabric softener and water and this hairdresser’s trick will leave your hair soft, shiny, and fragrant. After you’re done showering, towel dry your hair until it’s damp. Then spritz your hair with this effective detangler and let your hair dry as usual.

5. The shower

Another place where fabric softener works wonders is on shower doors. Mix some fabric softener with water and scrub with a sponge. Tough stains and calcium deposits will soon be a thing of the past.

6. Car seats

Are your car seats stained? Don’t use concentrated cleaners. Instead use a solution of warm water, and… you guessed it, fabric softener! As an added bonus, you won’t get shocked by the car door as you get out of the car.
