Usually the words “Florida man” are preceded by some out of this world story that could only have happened in the sunshine state.
But this time a Florida man is going viral for an incredibly amazing act of kindness he started eight years ago.
Kevin Cate happened to catch the unidentified man at a Waffle House in Gadsden County, Florida, and shared the man’s heartwarming story with the internet.
Cate, a political writer and filmmaker, had stopped at the restaurant and noticed an older man sitting by himself. He decided to approach him and strike up a conversation.
After all, the man appeared to be attaching notes to money that he had spread across his table.
The man told Cate that since 2014 he’s been handing out $1 and $5 bills to strangers he meets at Waffle House, his favorite, and other random locations.
Over the past eight years he’s handed out $13,000 to complete strangers.
Included with each bill is a short note, “Love every body.” The man shared the special meaning behind those words to Cate.
“He told me those were the last three words his mother said to him,” Cate explained.
“She didn’t say ‘I love you.’ She said ‘love every body. So that’s what I’m doing. Loving every body.”
The heartwarming story resonated with people online with many thanking Cate for sharing his encounter and others sharing their own similar experiences.
Hearing stories like this warms my heart. We need more people like this in our world.
