All eyes have been fixated on the Royal Family these past few days. The Queen Jubilee celebrations united the family once again and showed off a strong front.
And now pictures of Harry and Meghan’s youngest child Lilibet “Lili” Diana Mountbatten-Windsor are causing quite a debate online!
Lili as she is lovingly called was born on June 4, 2021, at a hospital in Santa Barbara, California. By all accounts, she is a healthy and happy baby. And just a week ago, met her father’s side of the family for the first time!
She met her namesake great-grandmother Queen Elizabeth, whose father King George VI lovingly referred to as ‘Lilibet’ as well.
People had questions about whether the Queen had approved the name for the couple since their relationship seemed to be suffering after Harry and Meghan gave up their royal titles and privileges. But according to sources, the Queen had given the couple their blessing to go ahead.
According to sources, the couple was insistent on the name as a way to fix the growing rift between them and the matriarch of the family. “The Duke spoke with his family in advance of the announcement. In fact, his grandmother was the first family member he called,” the source revealed.
In between the Jubilee Celebrations, the couple released pictures of their beloved daughter Lili from her first birthday party which took place at Frogmore Cottage.
The pictures show a smiling toddler, gazing at the camera happily. The birthday reportedly had close friends and family in attendance. And while the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were invited, they were unable to visit.
Photographer Misan Harriman took pictures of the youngest member of the royal family. The same photographer did Meghan’s maternity shoot when she was pregnant with little Lili.
Now people are divided on who little Lili resembles the most! Some think she is the spitting image of her father Prince Harry, who like her is a fellow red-head.
While others think she resembles her grandmother and namesake Diana.
And then there were some keen observers who pointed out a similarity between Lilibet and her mother’s half-brother, her uncle Tom. Tom also happens to be a redhead like his niece.
Others disagreed and shared that they thought she looked like her mother.
What is interesting to note is that both Archie and Lili have red hair. Since red hair is carried in the MCR1 gene and is recessive, both parents need to have it in order for it to be expressed.
So it seems like Meghan also carries the gene. Which makes sense, considering her half-brother is a redhead too.
There was a lot of speculation as to whether the Duke and Duchess of Sussex would be a part of the royal celebrations for the Queen’s Jubilee considering they gave up their titles and privileges to move to the United States. But the couple and their children were of course invited.
Since they are no longer working royals, the couple did not participate in all the events but their presence was very much noted by everyone. This helped squash rumors about any rifts the family might have with one another.
