Animals are innocent beings who operate based on their instinct. But rest assured, animals can be much more empathetic than even humans at times.
This lonely puppy was abandoned and all alone in this world but he was welcomed by the older dogs at the shelter in a way that the rescuers will never forget.
Osito was abandoned by the only family he had ever known a few weeks after his birth. His family decided they did not want him anymore and abandoned him to fend for himself.
The scared and timid puppy was all alone in this world. But thankfully for Osito, he wasn’t alone for too long. A rescuer named Felicia Quispe Arana learned about the puppy’s sad situation and immediately jumped to action.
Arana runs a shelter for rescued animals in Cusco, Peru. The Colitas Sin Techo, helps shelter dozens of homeless dogs.
But when it came to rescuing Osito, she was nervous. “There are no puppies at our shelter. All the dogs are big and most of them are adults,” Arana said. She was not sure how the bigger dogs would react to a puppy in their midst.
Even the puppy felt a little apprehensive about meeting so many dogs, much older and bigger than him. But the reaction of the dogs could not have been better.
The bigger dogs, tails wagging, all greeted Osito warmly. Sniffing the puppy and looked like they were doting at the new smallest member of their gang.
The puppy seemed to be put at ease immediately and gained confidence as he roamed around the shelter.
And soon, Osito was adopted yet again and found a forever home which was loving and warm; just what a growing puppy needs!
Arana was very happy at finding Osito a forever home. “Now he has a family, and I hope he has a long life and is happy,” she said.
As for the puppy’s older friends at the shelter, we hope they find their forever homes soon too!
The kindness and compassion animals display for one another is heart-melting. Osito being doted on by older dogs was a precious sight to behold!
